A one-vehicle accident kept electric crews and law enforcement busy yesterday afternoon on Hwy 50 West near Beer Can Alley. A car struck a utility pole, snapping the pole and causing electric sparks that resulted in a small and brief field fire around 4 p.m. No injuries were reported, and the fire was put out, but power was off for residents on the west side of town for around an hour. Again, no injuries were reported, and the cause of the crash is unknown.
