Brad Chambers, formerly at the helm of Indiana’s economic development under Gov. Eric Holcomb, has taken a new political stride by officially initiating his campaign for the gubernatorial race in 2024. On Thursday morning, Chambers completed the preliminary paperwork to commence his journey towards the Governor’s office, marking the first formal step in this ambitious endeavor.
Chambers recently stepped down from his role as Indiana’s Secretary of Commerce, concluding a two-year tenure. His decision to run for governor underscores his determination to elevate his public service commitment to the next level.
As he embarks on his campaign, Chambers enters a competitive field that includes several prominent Republican contenders for the same office. Suzanne Crouch, Indiana’s current Lieutenant Governor, Mike Braun, a former U.S. Senator, Curtis Hill, former Indiana Attorney General, and Eric Doden, the former head of the Indiana Economic Development Committee under Gov. Mike Pence, have all thrown their hats into the ring.
On the Democratic side, former Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Jennifer McCormick has entered the race. Additionally, Donald Rainwater is set to represent the Libertarian party in the upcoming gubernatorial election.
Chambers’ decision to vie for the governorship injects further dynamism into the unfolding political landscape, as Indiana residents prepare for a potentially transformative electoral season.
