Knox County Sheriff’s Department Releases July Monthly Statistics

The Knox County Sheriff’s Department recently shared their monthly statistics, reporting a total of 1,376 calls in July. Officers responded to 1,022 of these calls, handling various situations within the county. Highlights of the report include 34 calls related to traffic hazards or disabled vehicles, 20 domestic calls, 24 juvenile programs, and 28 property damage accidents. Other incidents noted in the report were three overdose or poisoning cases, 16 theft reports, and 14 welfare checks. The department also responded to 18 burglar alarm activations and 24 animal complaints. Throughout the month, there were 354 traffic stops conducted by the officers. Regarding the jail, 128 individuals were booked, and 112 were released either on bond, due to time served, or as per court order. The department also addressed 29 incidents where people called 911 and hung up. They advised that if such a mistake happens, individuals should stay on the line and explain the situation to prevent valuable resources from being diverted away from genuine emergencies.
