Travis Burkhart Foundation’s 16th annual golf scramble is this Saturday at Country Oaks. 8 a.m. tee time and still spots available for a four person team . Breakfast and lunch provided. Lots of games, tee prizes and raffles.  Here is Jason Omer discussing the big day and that it’s not too late to sign up a team.

Cubs collect 21 hits and have 6 players with a multi hit game, Dansby Swanson has 2 homers and 5 RBI’s and Jeimer Candelario who was just acquired in a trade deadline deal with the Nationals goes 4 for 5 in his Cubs debut.  This will be Candelario’s second stint with the Cubs as he came up through the Cubs farm system.

Framber Valdez recorded the 16th no-hitter in Astros history in their 2-0 win over Cleveland. This is the 3rd no hitter this season in MLB. 

MLB TRADE DEADLINE

 

Cardinals continue to be sellers as they trade shortstop Paul DeJong to the   Toronto Blue Jays one day after losing their All-Star shortstop Bo Bichette to a knee injury. Cardinals also part ways with RHP r Jack Flaherty sending him to the Baltimore Orioles for pitching and infield prospects. 

 

After leaving the Astros in free agency last winter to sign with the Mets for 87 million dollars, Justin Verlander was traded back to his old club yesterday.  He previously spent 5 ½ years with Houston.  

 

Notre Dame and Under Armour are extending their relationship, agreeing to a new 10-year apparel contract that’ll keep the Irish toward the top of college sports with a price tag of more than $10 million annually in cash and gear according to sources. 

 

In a swift response to multiple players’ complaints about the PGA Tour’s lack of transparency before its surprising alliances last month the Tour added Tiger Woods as a sixth player director and made significant changes to its governance structure.. A group of 41 notable tour players sent a letter to the PGA Tour on Monday, demanding more involvement in decisions shaping its future.
