Big Ten college football writers have made their predictions for the upcoming season.  Of the 37 voters, 27 picked Michigan to win it all, and eight picked Ohio State.

 

Big Ten East

1-Michigan (27 first-place votes) 248

7-Indiana 48 Hoosiers and Coach Tom Allen, who is entering his 7th season at IU try and rebound from a disappointing 4-8 record. Allen has a overall 30 wins and 40 loss record in Bloomington. IU opens up at home versus Ohio State on September 2nd.

Big Ten West

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh and the NCAA are working toward a negotiated resolution that is expected to see him suspended four games this season in penalties stemming from alleged false statements he originally made to investigators about recruiting violations.

Ending  any holdout speculation early  Jonathan Taylor reported to Indianapolis Colts camp. As a 2020 second-round pick, Taylor didn’t get a fifth-year team option and will be an unrestricted free agent after this season if he and the Colts don’t agree on an extension. He could also be franchise tagged this offseason. The two sides talked about a new deal during the offseason.

Two-time All-Star wing Jaylen Brown has agreed to a five-year, $304 million supermax contract extension with the Boston Celtics with all of that being guaranteed money, making him the highest-paid player in NBA history according to  his agent. The 26-year-old averaged a career-high 26.6 points per game (49/34/77 shooting splits), 6.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 35.9 minutes a game this past season.
