Mark Robert Lange

July 9, 2023 Vincennes, Indiana Mark Robert Lange passed at his home with family and friends near. Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. EST, on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at St. Johns UCC Fifth and Shelby Streets, Vincennes.
Mark Lange was born February 3, 1951 and raised in Valparaiso, Indiana, by a school teacher and a musician. His parents were Robert J. Lange and Fay (Churchill) Lange. He earned degrees in Electronics Engineering from Valparaiso Technical Institute, A BS Degree in Radio Television and Film from Indiana State University and a Masters Degree in Vocational Education from Indiana State University. Lange began his broadcast career in 1968 while in high school at WNWI Radio in Valparaiso. He worked 55 years in mass media.
In 1974 he took a position at Vincennes University to develop and produce news and information for the new WVUB radio. He was assigned additional teaching responsibilities for Radio, Management, Broadcast Sales and Electronic students shortly after arriving at VU. In his 24 years at VU he taught over Four Thousand Students face to face and countless others through two college textbooks published in the 1970’s and sold to colleges across the country. In 1998 he retired from VU to allow more time to focus on the growth of The Original Company – a mass media business started in 1981 by Mark and his wife Saundra.
Today TOC owns and/or operates 24 different radio signals in Southern Indiana and Southern Illinois, streams audio and video content from numerous websites, produces and distributes local advertising material to over 136 thousand Households in Southern Illinois and Southern Indiana each week, and develops digital campaigns for businesses and organizations located anywhere.
Mark has been married for 50 years to Saundra who is a working partner in the media business and Reily Home Bed and Breakfast. They have three children: Christina (Shawn) Schlag, Jonathan (Chrissy) Lange, and Aaron Lange. Christina and Jonathan work at The Original Company. Christina’s husband Shawn is the CEO of TOC, and Aaron is a Lt. Colonel in the Indiana National Guard recently returning from IRAQ deployment. He and Saundra have seven grandchildren: Isabella, Caleb, Anna, Adelynn, Olivia, Landon and Cora. All seven live in Vincennes. Mark’s siblings are Kathleen Carlisle, Laurel (Chuck) Krider, and Neal (Terri) Lange, sister-in-law Betsy (Rick) Curless, brother-in-law Kent (Margie)Powelson, numerous nieces and nephews.
