The Knox County Sheriff’s Office and Vincennes Police Department are part of the Nationwide ‘Speeding Slows You Down’ Campaign. They aim to reduce speeding over the next three weeks alongside law enforcement officers nationwide. Speeding contributed to 29% of fatal crashes in 2020, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. In 2021 alone, 12,330 people lost their lives due to speeding, and 51% of speeding drivers involved in fatal crashes were not wearing seatbelts.
