Eric “Moe” Chambers

ed-lee-4

With a heart as tender as the finest cut of meat and a personality that could light up even the darkest room, the world has lost a truly unique soul with the passing of Eric “Moe” Chambers, also known as ‘The Meat Man’, on June 29, 2023. Born on June 20, 1976, in Vincennes, Indiana, Eric spent his entire life of 47 years in the county he loved so much. Eric was a funny, loving, generous, and loyal man. His jovial spirit was infectious, his love was all-encompassing, his generosity knew no bounds, and his loyalty was unwavering. A perfect embodiment of the saying, “laughter is the best medicine,” Eric’s humor brought joy to all who knew him.
Eric was a dedicated family man. Whether he was grilling up a feast, building model cars, working in the yard, or simply enjoying the company of his loved ones, family was always at the heart of everything he did. Eric’s love for his family was only matched by his passion for his work. He was the proud Meat Man at Sav A Lot Grocery, where he was known for having the cleanest meat room ever and Manager at WD’s until they closed and cook for Horton’s fish truck until Jeff retired. His dedication to his work earned him the affectionate nickname, ‘The Meat Man’. An avid cook, Eric’s culinary creations were the stuff of legends, as was his love for his grandbabies. As the saying goes, “The secret ingredient is always love,” and Eric’s love was evident in everything he did, from his cooking to his time spent with family.
Eric is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Tammy Chambers; his son, Brady Julian; Son-in-law, Dillon Julian; daughter-in-law, Rayna Armstrong; sister, Marcie McNew; grandsons, Greyson Chambers; and Malaki Julian; granddaughter on the way in July Thea Chambers; granddaughter, Patience Julian; and brothers-in-law, Alvin McDonald, Rick McDonald, and Jeff McDonald. He was preceded in death by son, Braxton Chambers; his parents, Steven Chambers and Julia Clingerman; brother-in-law, Frank McNew; mother-in-law, Peggy McDonald; father-in-law, Ted McDonald.
A celebration of Eric’s life will be held on Saturday, 08 Jul 2023 at 4:00pm-6:00PM EDT at Goodwin-Sievers – Vincennes Funeral Home, located at 524 Broadway Street, Vincennes, Indiana, 47591. We invite all who knew and loved Eric to join us in remembering his wonderful life and infectious spirit. In the spirit of remembering Eric, we encourage you to share your favorite memories and photos of him on the memorial page. His life was a testament to the adage, “It’s not the years in your life that count, it’s the life in your years,” and we look forward to celebrating the vibrant life that was Eric Chambers.
