DUI Accident in Jasper: Impaired Driver Collides with Utility Pole, Faces Charges

In a recent incident at 4:27 AM on July 2, law enforcement officers responded to a single vehicle injury accident at the intersection of West 6th Street and Saint Charles Street in Jasper. Officers discovered that a black 1999 Ford Ranger had veered off the road and collided with a utility pole in the northeast corner of the intersection. The two occupants of the vehicle had already extricated themselves from the wreckage. Further investigation revealed that the driver, identified as Jud K. Goodness, was impaired and under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. The passenger suffered rib and stomach pain as a result of the accident. EMS transported both individuals to Memorial Hospital for treatment of their injuries. The driver sustained a severe head injury but is currently in stable condition, while the passenger’s condition is also stable after receiving medical attention. The driver now faces charges for operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangerment, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
