Indiana State Police Mourn the Loss of Trooper Aaron Lewis in Line of Duty

The Indiana State Police are mourning the loss of one of their own this morning. 33-year-old Aaron Smith was helping troopers track a stolen vehicle on Ronald Reagan Parkway north of I-70 in Hendricks County. Smith attempted to deploy stop sticks to stop the vehicle in pursuit when he was struck and critically injured. Smith was a five year member of the State Police force. The suspect driver and an adult and juvenile passenger were all taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
