Indiana State Police Intensify Patrols for Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign

indiana-state-police-2-2

Indiana State Police will be stepping up patrols as part of the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign. The initiative aims to prevent impaired driving incidents during the weekend leading up to Independence Day. Every day, approximately 37 people in the US lose their lives in drunk driving crashes, amounting to over 13,000 deaths annually, according to the NHTSA. In Indiana, driving with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 or higher is illegal, and drivers under 21 with a BAC of .02 or higher face fines and potential license suspension. It’s crucial to remember that impairment includes not only alcohol but also drugs and certain over-the-counter medications. If they encounter a drunk driver on the road, motorists are encouraged to call 911.
