city-of-washington-6

Washington’s City Council had a full agenda that saw one proposed ordinance rejected, three new ordinances passed, and four proposed ordinances introduced. The Council approved a resolution and introduced an ordinance appropriating grant money received from Indiana’s Community Crossing grant and transferring it to meet the City’s match for the funding.
After hearing from neighboring property owners, the Council defeated a proposed ordinance to vacate a portion of an alley running between Jefferson and Lincoln Streets. The vote was 2-4, with Councilman Alan Brown absent.
The Council approved an ordinance rezoning an area just north of Bobe’s property on SR 57 from residential to commercial. Another ordinance rezoned an area on Bussard Road just south of Cherry Tree Apartments from PUD to multifamily residence. And a third new ordinance rezoned the area owned by the Power House on East Main Street from residential to commercial. The Council then heard the introduction of an ordinance clarifying certification and payment for the Fire Department.
