Recovery Efforts Underway: Road Closures and Community Support Following Storms and Tornadoes

Road Closures and Storm Recovery Efforts
Windom and Simmons Creek Roads are closed to non-local traffic to facilitate storm recovery operations. Significant progress has been made in the past 24 hours, but there is still much work ahead to restore utilities and fully recover from the storm. Expect minimal changes in the landscape over the next few days. Excessive traffic in the area is causing major delays and safety concerns for cleanup crews. The outpouring of support has been overwhelming. If you wish to donate items to assist in the recovery, please contact Lost River Township Trustee Millie Brown. Drop-off locations are available at the Lost River Fire Station or the Martin County Sheriff’s Office. Rest assured that your contributions will be promptly delivered to those in need. While we can learn valuable lessons from the damages inflicted, it’s crucial to remember that our community has suffered the loss of a member and serious injuries to another. Many individuals are grappling with significant disruptions to their daily lives. Let us extend our neighbors and family members the respect and privacy they deserve as they navigate the challenges that lie ahead. Together, we will overcome these difficulties and emerge stronger as a community.
