Mr. Terry Wayne Chambers, a loving and compassionatehusband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who enjoyed the outdoors, passed away on June 20, 2023, in Vincennes, Indiana. Born on December 21, 1947, in Edwardsport, Indiana, Terry was known for his wisdom and dedication to his family and community.
Terry was the son of the late Cletus and Mildred (Cotral)Chambers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol (Leigh)Chambers; four brothers; two sisters; and his daughter, Kimberly (survived by Bo) Guerrero. Terry is survived by twelve children:Lisa Allen of Vincennes, Indiana; Rebecca Shank of Lawrenceville, Illinois; Kristine (Tim) Thompson of Edwardsport, Indiana; Lisa (Kevin) Moore of Lawrenceville, Illinois; Nathan (Stephanie) Chambers of Bristow, Virginia; Sean Chambers of Midland, Texas; Jessica (Ryan) Tatum of Eagle, Idaho; Cody Chambers of Pittsburg, Kansas; Derek (Kayla) Chambers of Brookwood, Alabama; Genesis Chambers of Vincennes, Indiana; Destany Chambers of Vincennes, Indiana; and Elizabeth Chambers of Evansville, Indiana. Terry is also survived by 32 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Terry earned an associate’s degree in wildlife conservation and proudly served his country with the Army in Vietnam. Following his honorable military service, he worked as a small arms supervisor at Crane. Terry was a member of the Vincennes American Legion, and an avid genealogist. Terry enjoyed researching his family history and sharing his findings with his loved ones. He also had a deep love for his dogs, who brought him great joy and companionship throughout his life. Terry was often found cheering on his children at their sporting events, showcasing his unwavering support and love for his family.
Terry’s adventurous spirit led him to enjoy many outdoor activities, including fishing and hunting. He cherished the time spent in nature and the memories created with family and friends during these excursions.
There will be visitation on Friday, June 23, 2023, from 6:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Homes Bicknell Chapel in Bicknell, Indiana, with Pastor Jon McKinnon officiating. Burial will follow at Bicknell Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Terry’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project.
