Arrest Made: Homeless Man Apprehended After Altercation in Jasper

A 29-year-old homeless man, identified as Zackary Gilbert, was apprehended on Monday morning after an altercation on the railroad tracks east of the 900 Block of Fairview Avenue in Jasper. When Jasper Police Department (JPD) officers approached Gilbert, he attempted to flee on foot. However, he was swiftly located and detained. It was later confirmed that Gilbert had been involved in a domestic dispute, resulting in injuries to another person. Gilbert was also found to be in possession of paraphernalia within his tent located on the tracks. As a result, he was charged with domestic battery as well as misdemeanor charges of domestic battery, invasion of privacy, possession of paraphernalia, and resisting law enforcement. Gilbert is currently held in the Dubois County Security Center.
