Washington Police Department Clarifies Power Outage Complaint Procedures for Residents

washington-police

The Washington Police Department has released a statement to clear up confusion regarding power outages and where to file complaints. Residents experiencing a power outage between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays should call the utility office at 812-254-2730 or 812-254-5171. For outages after hours, residents should contact the Daviess County Central Dispatch at 812-254-4410 or 812-254-1060. The WPD also clarified that all complaints must go through Daviess County Central Dispatch, as the WPD Dispatch and Daviess County Dispatch have combined. The clerks at City Hall no longer dispatch emergency responders. To speak with an officer, request Fire Department or EMS assistance, or file a complaint, residents can call Central Dispatch or visit the station and use the touch screen in the lobby. The clerks at City Hall are available on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and can be reached at 812-254-8242. The WPD apologizes for any confusion and hopes this information helps clarify the process for residents.
