Dr. Michael B Worrell

Dr. Michael B Worrell, 60, Washington, Indiana, entered eternal life on Easter Sunday at the Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana. He was born on July 6, 1962, in Paoli, Indiana, to Marvin and Pamela (Fisher) Worrell-Critchlow .
Michael attended Vincennes University, Purdue University, and Earlham College. He received his Doctorate Degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine.
In his twenty-one years of teaching, Michael was a tenured Professor in Exercise Science at Hanover College and head of the cadaver lab in their science center. He, additionally, taught Anatomy and Physiology at IUPUI Medical School, IU School of Optometry in Bloomington, IU school of Medicine at Terre Haute, and Grand Canyon University. He performed research in comparative anatomy and mammalogy. His research was published in various journals and he wrote a chapter for Applied Cell and Molecular Biology for Engineers. Michael won numerous student and faculty-nominated awards including Professor of the Year for multiple years. His greatest passions were teaching and the love he had for his students.
Michael enjoyed hiking, fishing, nature, the beach, and woodworking. He had a love for animals, especially the cats he would take in from the surrounding area. He had a servant’s heart, volunteering for years in the church and, in his last years, volunteering at the Daviess Community Hospital. He was a past member of the Zionsville Fellowship Church.
Those who now morn Michael’s passing include his mother, Pam Critchlow of Washington; children: Ben (Annaliesa) Worrell of Zionsville; Bronwyn Pfingston of Evansville; Braden (Jordan) Worrell of Lakeland, Florida; Bryce (Abby)Worrell of Indianapolis; Brianna (Tyler) Summers of Lebanon; Brandilyn Worrell (Nhat Pham) of Indianapolis; Brock Worrell and Bethany Worrell of Brownsburg, Indiana ; grandchildren: Toby Worrell; Eli Worrell; Hayden Pfingston; Ellie-Jane Pfingston; and brother, Jim (Sandra) Worrell of Mitchell.
During his lifetime, Michael lost both his father, Marvin Worrell, and stepfather, Norman Critchlow.
Visitation for Dr. Michael Worrell will be 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the Bethel United Methodist Church, 919 IN-57, Washington, Indiana 47501.
Funeral services for Dr. Michael Worrell will immediately follow the visitation and begin at 1:00 pm, also at the Bethel United Methodist Church. Pastor Matt Sullivan will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Hanover Cemetery in Hanover, Indiana.
