The South Knox Middle School band members are safe due to the assistance of the manager of Sullivan’s McDonald’s restaurant. The South Knox band had participated in a middle school band contest north of Terre Haute on Friday and were retuning home on U.S. 41 at the time of the tornado. The band director called Sullivan’s McDonald’s for help. The manager of the restaurant met the bus in the parking lot and sheltered the 30 students and accompanying adults in the restaurant restrooms during the storm.
