Ground was broken yesterday for the new Commons Area on Main Street in downtown Washington. State and local leaders and officials gathered on the ground at 301 East Main Street in downtown Washington. Economic Development Director Bryant Niehoff says the project has been in the works for about five years and is a collaborative effort of a lot of groups, including the City of Washington, Daviess County, the Knights of Columbus, R.O.I., and new private partners that were announced at the event yesterday. TruScripts will be the namesake for the new Market Pavilion on the grounds, and the site will be the home of the German American Stage for concerts and other special events at the venue.
