ISP Warns Public Of Scammers Impersonating State Police

Indiana State Police have warned the public to be cautious of phone scams in which the caller impersonates a law enforcement official and demands personal information or payment in lieu of arrest. Some Hoosiers have reported receiving calls from a scammer posing as Indiana State Police, claiming that they are wanted in Texas and must provide private information to avoid arrest. However, Indiana State Police Sergeant Ron Galaviz has advised the public not to fall for such tricks and never give away personal information, bank or credit card numbers, or buy gift cards for anyone claiming to be a law enforcement official. Sgt. Galaviz encourages the public to report such incidents to the Indiana State Police.
