Vincennes House Fire Update – Mother and Son Escape Safely

A mother and her son have been displaced after a house fire in Vincennes on Saturday. The Vincennes City and Vincennes Township Fire Departments received a call at 12:21 p.m. and arrived at the scene to find a blown-out bedroom window. Firefighters launched an attack from the outside and then moved inside to extinguish the blaze. The occupants of the house, who were renting the property, managed to escape before the emergency crews arrived and were unharmed.
However, one firefighter did suffer exhaustion from fighting the fire. The Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the displaced family. Captain Adam Ray from the Vincennes City Department estimated that the house is a total loss. The Indiana State Fire Marshal’s office has begun its investigation into the cause of the fire.
The incident highlights the importance of having working smoke detectors in homes and ensuring that everyone in the home knows what to do in the event of a fire. Fire officials urge residents to take steps to prevent fires and to have a fire safety plan in place.
