Tammy Sue Brown

Tammy Sue Brown, 52, of Washington, IN passed away surrounded by her loving family on January 12, 2023, following a long, hard-fought battle with cancer.
Tammy was born to Fred and Dana Horton Porter on February 14, 1970. Her father passed away when she was only 11 months old and she was raised by her stepfather Reldon Bateman from the age of 3.
Tammy attended North Daviess High School and graduated in 1988. She continued her education at Indiana State University and received a Bachelor’s Degree in business in 1992.
Tammy worked for Lady Footlocker at several different locations over an 11 year span and moved back to Washington to work as the manager of the Shell station for several years. She then began working at United Services Insurance for Mike Durnil and has done so for the last 12 years.
Tammy was a fierce God-loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend. She was a proud member of Bethany Christian Church. Tammy married the love of her life Jason Brown on August 14, 2004. She gave birth to her daughter Abigail Elizabeth on January 14, 2006.
In her free time Tammy enjoyed bible study, making wreaths, painting, singing, fishing, cooking, kayaking, flower gardening, reading dual timeline mystery novels, watching the Hallmark Channel, and spending time with family, friends, and her animals. Tammy will be dearly missed by all.
Tammy is preceded in death by her father Fred Porter; maternal grandparents Herman and Betty Horton; paternal grandparents Henry Faye and Myrtle Porter; paternal grandparents Cecil and Ruth Bateman.
Tammy is survived by her husband of 18 years Jason Brown; daughter Abigail Brown, age 17; parents Reldon and Dana Bateman; father and mother-in law Carl and Cladia Brown; sisters Deanna(Steve) McKenzie, Julie Seal, and Polly (Steve) Bullock; stepsisters Leni (Tracy)Walls, Diane(Eddie)Grisham, Darla(Mike)Burgoyne; stepbrother Rex Bateman; nephews Loren(Kari) Seal, Bryce(Anna) Bullock, Conner(Chloe) McKenzie, Benson McKenzie; nieces Erica(Mike) Snell, Lilli(Bob)Helfst; many great nieces and nephews; Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and her beloved dog Gunner.
Goodwin-Sievers is honored and entrusted with the care of Mrs. Brown. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 19th, 2023 at 2020 State St. Washington, IN from 4-8 and Friday, January 20, 2023 from 10-12. A funeral service will be held Friday January 20, 2023 at 12pm with burial at Bethany Cemetery in Washington, IN immediately following.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Travis Burkhart Foundation in honor of Tammy.
