Washington School Board Officially Welcomes New Members

The Washington School Board met briefly yesterday for the first time to welcome new members and reorganize for the upcoming year. Three new faces joined the board this year, including Sarah Browning, Dr. Jason Omer, and Garrett Miller, and we spoke to each one prior to the meeting…

Also getting re-elected for another term was Scott Arthur, who was selected yesterday to serve as board president for 2023 by a vote of 5-2, with Randy Bouchie and Garrett Miller opposed.  The new board vice president will be Tim Hedrick, and the secretary is Sarah Browning. Also selected last night to continue as treasurers were Carrie Alford and Assistant Treasurer Andrea Martin. Superintendent Kevin Frank presented an update on the numbers for this school year. He reported the ADM was right at 2,443 students corporation-wide, which was consistent with last year across the board. Frank did say a few classes in the lower levels had peaked over the 200-enrollment mark, and with new housing coming in, he looks for a rise in numbers in the years to come. The school’s budget is once again solid, earning another A rating from the S and P Index as they prepared paperwork for the renovation work coming to Hatchet Hollow.
