Purdue remains ranked #1 in the AP College Basketball poll. The 12-0 Boilermakers have now spent 4 weeks in the top spot. The Indiana Hoosiers at 10 and 3 are ranked 16th. On the Women’s side the Indiana Hoosiers at 12 and 0 are ranked 4th and have been playing great basketball without their star Grace Berger who continues to rehab her injured knee. Notre Dame is ranked 5th while South Carolina is still in the #1 slot.
In College Football news Former Texas quarterback Hudson Card committed to Purdue on Monday according to sources. The commitment gives first-year coach Ryan Walters a key early building block as he takes over from Jeff Brohm. Card, a redshirt sophomore and former top-40 recruit, gives Purdue a quarterback with three years of eligibility remaining and a solid track record in limited appearances. Card started five games over two seasons for the Longhorns, and he has thrown for 1,523 yards and 11 touchdowns over his three seasons.
Nathaniel Hackett was fired by the Broncos on Monday, a day after the team was blown out 51-14 by the Los Angeles Rams. With the firing, Hackett became the 18th NFL head coach to be fired during his first season on the job. Hackett lasted 15 games with the Broncos, the seventh-shortest head coaching tenure in NFL history, with a record of 4-11.
