William “Bill” Lee Allen

William “Bill” Lee Allen, 96, of Bicknell IN passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN on Nov 17, 2022. Bill was born Jan 14, 1926 in Vincennes, IN, the son of Thomas and Flossie (Smith) Allen. He was the youngest boy of his parents and the last of all fourteen to grace this earth.

Bill began his career with Public Service Indiana as a lineman for approximately thirteen years before leaving for I.B.E.W. until his retirement in 1988.

He was an avid bowler for nearly thirty years and then switched to golfing after retirement. He also was a deer hunter and made numerous hunting trips to Colorado. Hunting groundhogs was also a favorite pastime in his younger years as well. If you played as his partner in Euchre, you’d better have brought your “A” game! He loved playing cards and all the fun and fellowship which came along with it. The card game Gin was another favorite. Sitting at his and Betty’s kitchen table one might not get the chance to finish ones meal before Bill would drag the cards out and begin dealing a game. Also in 1974 he and his sons played together as a team in the men’s softball league in Bicknell.
