Girls basketball in the area kicks off tonight and a big early season matchup will be on WAMW with an approximate 7:15 pregame show as the Washington Lady Hatchets travel to take on North Knox. Join DeWayne Shake and Steve Brothers as they call all the action of what should be a great game between two good teams.
Perry Central visits Wood Memorial and Shoals is at North Daviess at 8:00 pm and as we continue the spotlight on local teams I had a chance to talk with Lady Cougar Coach Joey Riggins…..

Coach Riggins is in his 6th season at the school and has tallied 41 wins during his tenure. Good luck to the Lady Cougars tonight versus Shoals and tomorrow night as they host Bloomington Lighthouse at 6pm. The Monday spotlight on girls basketball will feature Karie Craney from the Washington Catholic Lady Cardinals
In High School action last night it was the Evansville Reitz Panthers 55 and the Pike Central Lady Chargers 24 Sullivan over Vincennes Lincoln 39 38 NE Dubois 38 Paoli 36
 
High school football action this week finds sectional championships all over the state of Indiana.
In the area the Pike Central Chargers travel to 11-o Owen Valley to take on the Patriots in Spencer. Linton- Stockton travels to Sullivan, Southridge goes to Heritage Hills, Evansville North goes to Paradise to play Castle and Evansville Memorial travels to Boonville
 
All eyes in college football are on Athens Georgia Saturday as number 2 Tennessee takes on the top ranked Bulldogs. at 3:30 p.m. on CBS. Georgia is an 8 1/2, point favorite and has won 5 straight over the Volunteers..
The winner will claim rights to the No. 1 spots in the College Football Playoff rankings and Associated Press Top 25. Also at stake is command of the SEC East and a lead in the race for a spot in the conference championship game in Atlanta. The KEY MATCHUP will be Tennessee’s up-tempo offense against Georgia’s stingy defense. The Volunteers lead the nation in scoring (49.4 ppg), total offense (553 ypg) and a 198.51 passing efficiency while Georgia ranks second in the nation in scoring defense (10.5 ppg and fourth in total defense allowing (262.6 ypg)

The first-ever network to focus on female athletes, the Women’s Sports Network, launched Wednesday, offering 24/7 streaming of original programming, competitions, documentaries and a daily studio show “Game On.” The Women’s Sports Network is a free, ad-supported network featured on streaming services including Amazon.com’s Freevee, Fox Corp. FuboTV and smart TVs. The new network comes at a time when investment and viewership numbers for women’s sports are on the rise, yet women only receive a small fraction of media coverage.The Women’s Sports Network currently has partnerships with the WNBA, Women’s Football Alliance, The LPGA, U.S. Ski and Snowboard, SportsWorld Surf League, among others. It plans to broadcast games starting in January.
 
Ray Guy, the Hall of Fame punter who won three Super Bowl rings with the Oakland and Los Angeles Raiders over a 14-season career and is widely considered the greatest punter of all time, has died at the age of 72, the NFL announced Thursday.Guy, who was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection and a member of the NFL’s 100th Anniversary All-Time Team, averaged 42.4 yards over his career from 1973 to 1986. He led the league in the category three times, while finishing second on three other occasions.
