Gordon R. Rainey

Gordon R. Rainey, 76, of Winslow, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his bedside on October 28, 2022.
He was born in Arthur, Indiana, to Homer and Margaret Rainey on June 30, 1946. He proudly serviced his country during the Vietnam War and remained active with the VFW, American Legion, and Winslow Eagles. He retired from Special Mine Services in 2010. He loved to fish, hunt, trap, and would anytime he could. He especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren and his dogs, Butter and Dottie. He was a lifelong Hoosier fan and loved his sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ronald, Arville, and Wayne, sons Scottie and Stevie Rainey, who he missed dearly.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Beverly Rainey; one son, Jeremy (Sonia) Rainey; 5 grandchildren, Coltyn, Emma, Bryce, Hannah and Baylie Rainey; 2 great-grandchildren; and siblings Donald Rainey, Edna (Robert) Loveless, Mary Tait, Norman Rainey, Margaret Horn, Bonnie (Dave) Basham, in-laws Rhonda Bozikis, John (Beth) Horton, Pam Harmon, Carrie (Ronnie) Meade, Kelly Horton, Delama (Doyle) Willis, and Nick (Amber) Wheeler; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be from 3:00pm-7:00pm on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at O.D. Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, Indiana. Services and burial will be private.
