Betty Jean Wilz

Betty Jean Wilz, 93, passed away at 11:38 pm on October 23, 2022, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, IN. Betty was born on June 1, 1929, in Evansville, IN and she is the daughter of William and Effie M. (Evans) Carroll. Betty married Buford Wilz and he preceded her in death in 1991.
Betty was a member of Washington Free Methodist Church and worked at Hoosier Gas in Customer Service for many years. She was a member of April Deb’s Homemaker’s Club, RSVP, Woman’s fellowship through Free Methodist Church and was very active with Operation Christmas Child at Washington Free Methodist also.
Survivors include her daughter, Bunny Ash and her husband Steve of Washington, IN; sons, Stephen J. Wilz and his wife Patty of Sevierville, TN, George J. Wilz and his wife Charlotte of Washington, IN; her grandchildren, Shelley Brinson and her husband Jim, Stephanie McClure and her husband Stacy, Sandra Clarke and her husband Matt, Stephen Wilz, Travis Wilz, Justin Wilz, Victoria Howard and her husband Jason, Andy Wilz, Daniel Wilz; her sister, Marcella Pruiett of Indianapolis, IN; great grandchildren, Ashley Igleheart (Kasey), Andrew Boyd (Hannah), Lauren Brinson, Madi and Molly McClure, Sammi Clarke, Emma Culver, Aaron, Camden, and Brycen Wilz, Luna and Lily Howard; and her great-great grandchildren, Elle, Ava, and Bentley Igleheart, and Emma and Lane Boyd. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, William and Effie Carroll, her granddaughter, Greta Wilz, and her siblings, Russell Carroll, Bernice Carroll, William Carroll, Roscoe Carroll, and Dorothy Hawkins.
Friends may visit with Betty’s family from 11:00 am until the hour of service time of 1:00 pm on Friday, October 28, 2022, at Washington Free Methodist Church, 1155 Troy Road, Washington, IN 47501. Pastor Adam Conder will officiate, and Betty will be laid to rest next to her husband Buford in St. John Cemetery.
