Evansville Warehouse is Still Burning a Week Later – Reward Offered for Information

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The fire is still burning at an Evansville warehouse, and investigators are offering a reward for anyone who can answer the question of how the fire started.
“The ATF has offered a $5,000 dollar reward for any information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of anyone involved in starting this fire,” said Chief Mike Larson with the Evansville Fire Department Monday morning.
Talking to a group of reporters, Chief Larson was quick to clarify that the reward does not mean this is a criminal investigation or that any criminal activity is suspected.
“The reward is being offered to potentially assist with the investigation,” says Larson. He says detectives are only doing this to rule out every and all possibilities in regards to the warehouse fire origin.
The warehouse, which is said to have a foot print of around 420,000 square feet, caught fire last Monday. The overall space of the warehouse is estimated to be around 1,000,000 square feet, given it was a multi-floor warehouse. An infrared camera captured several “white hot spots” within the warehouse. Those hot spots are fires, still burning at over 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
Chief Larson says it could take another week or so before the warehouse is considered “fully extinguished.” The warehouse was mostly empty, save for a wooden pallet or two.
