In varsity volleyball action, Vincennes Rivet topped North Daviess 3 games to zero. 25-22, 25-20, 25,21
The Washington Girls Soccer team lost a heartbreaker at Evansville Central last night, 3-2, for their first loss of the season.
The Washington JV Football team won at home last night at Hatchet Hollow, defeating Southridge 20-16.
The North Daviess Lady Cougars won a duel meet in convincing fashion on Monday evening at Phil Harris Golf Course in Linton. Carding a 210, they were a 40 shot winner over Clay City and were led by Gracey Knepp, who medaled with a 46.
The Barr-Reeve High School soccer team traveled to Vincennes Rivet Monday evening with a 0-2 loss. The Vikings held possession 70% of the time but struggled to finish goals. The Vikings will host NE Dubois on Monday in Antioch, with game time set for 5:30.
 
At the Little League World Series, Hagerstown suffered their first defeat after falling 5-2 in extra innings to Nolensville, Tennessee, on Monday. Despite the loss, Hagerstown still has a shot at winning the double elimination tournament.
After a 2-hour rain delay, it looked like it was going to be another heroic victory for Hagerstown following their walk-off win last Thursday, but it wasn’t to be. In the bottom of the 6th, they scored one run to tie the game, had the bases loaded and no outs, but the Great Lakes Region champs went down quietly and then gave up three runs in the top of the 7th, where the score stayed. Hagerstown will play again today at 3:00 pm on ESPN
 
The Indianapolis Colts have two practices before hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday for the preseason finale.
While the majority of starters sat during the preseason Week 2 game against the Detroit Lions, we should expect to see plenty more from the first team in the finale.
Head coach Frank Reich confirmed to the media on Sunday that the plan is for the starters to go roughly an entire half in the dress rehearsal.
After logging two physical joint practices with the Lions last week, it made sense for the Colts to hold out the starters. But now they have one more chance to see live game action on the field before heading down to Houston for the regular season opener.
We still shouldn’t expect to see running back Jonathan Taylor, but it appears we’ll get a good glimpse of the starters in the preseason finale.
 
For the fifth year in a row, Yahoo Sports is simulating an entire NFL season in the video game Madden Football.  While the simulation sounds good to Colts fan who finished 16-1 the Super Bowl Champ  played out to be the New Orleans Saints defeating the Kansas City Chiefs, 34-14
 
Jordan Montgomery ran his record to 4 and 0 throwing a 1 hit complete game shutout and Albert Pujols slugged his 693rd career homer in the Cardinals 1-0 win over the Cubs
