Gerald L. Hill

Gerald L. Hill, 87, of Washington, Indiana, went to his Heavenly home on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at his residence in Washington.
He was born on February 19, 1935, in Wheatland, Indiana, to the late John Herman Hill and Nina Lucille (Hulen) Hill.
Gerald was a 1953 graduate of Wheatland High School. After high school, he served his country in the National Guard for six years. On November 16, 1957, Gerald married the love of his life, Sharon Leavell. Gerald and Sharon spent over sixty-four years together happily married and together, they had five children: Denny, David, Denise, Darren, and Donna.
Gerald attended Grad Auctioneer School, and worked with his brother for several years at Hills Auction. Gerald also worked for Kimball International in Jasper, Indiana, and he retired after thirty – five years of employment. Gerald was a member of the Southwind Wesleyan Church, serving as a church trustee. He was a role model for so many youths in the area as he coached baseball for many years. Most importantly, he loved his family, children, and grandchildren deeply.
Surviving Gerald is his wife, Sharon (Leavell) Hill of Washington, Indiana, his children, Denny Hill (Kathi) of Washington, Denise Bechtel of Washington, Darren Hill (BJ Sherman) of Loogootee, Donna Kauffman (Bill) of Loogootee, 11 grandchildren, 18 great – grandchildren, sisters, Delema Lindsay, and Marlene Hodson (Terry) and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nina, his son, David Hill, and his brother, Bill Hill.
Visitation for Gerald will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Southwind Wesleyan Church 1782 Troy Rd., Washington, Indiana 47501 from 9:00 – 11:00am. Immediately after, a funeral service will be begin at 11:00am with Pastor Phil Kessen officiating. Pallbearers will be Adam Hill, Jacob Catt, Lucas Catt, TJ Bechtel, Josh Perkins, Davey Hill, and Kobe Hill.
