Big Weekend For Area Festivals

It’s another big weekend here in southwest Indiana for annual events and festivals. Whatever direction you may be traveling, there is likely something to do or see.

The Odon Old Settlers Days kicked off last night with the annual parade in downtown Odon. This festival is the oldest continuous festival in the state, taking place every year since 1886. Organizers say this weekend there will be inflatables, live traditional music, a wide variety of old-fashioned carnival treats and local fair delicacies. There are also many craft exhibits and demonstrations. The festival runs through tomorrow evening.

Another annual event gets underway this evening in Vincennes. The 2022 Watermelon Festival will begin this evening at 5:00 pm at Patrick Henry Square. The event will feature food vendors, craft vendors, live music, and a beer garden. Tomorrow, there will be a 5K run/walk, pageants, live entertainment, contests, as well as vendor booths, an antique tractor show, and a kid’s fun zone. There will also be free watermelon all day tomorrow.

In Dubois County, the Jasper Strassenfest continues through Sunday in downtown Jasper. There will be vendor booths, food vendors, games, live music, and more. Tickets are also on sale for the annual 50/50 jackpot drawing. As of this morning, the jackpot was at almost $53,000. Details can be found at jasperstrassenfest.org.
