Medical Waste Processing Facility Coming to Odon

odon-2

A medical waste processing facility is coming to Odon.

According to the Odon Journal, Scott McFarland, president of Medical Waste Solutions, presented a plan to the Odon Town Council during their last meeting.

McFarland plans to buy the former Odon Milling Company building on Mill Street and convert it into a facility to process medical waste.

The plant will treat regulated medical waste from hospitals, doctor’s offices, and dentist’s offices.

The waste will not include any biological material but rather gloves, sharps, and other materials that must be sanitized before disposal.

McFarland says the process will be monitored by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management to ensure state and federal standards are met.

The Odon Town Council unanimously approved the plan.
