CenterPoint Energy Power Plant to Cost Additional $77 Million

A brand-new natural gas power plant from CenterPoint Energy may cost more than what officials with the company led on.

CenterPoint has been approved by state regulators to build the plant in Evansville which has been priced at $334 million.

With that, regulators approved a rate hike to the tune of $24 more dollars a month per customer.

The Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor has filed a petition saying the plant will cost an additional $77 million and is accusing the utility company of not being forthright about expected costs.

CenterPoint says they’ve been transparent.
