The Colorado Avalanche are the Stanley Cup champions. They finished Game 6 on ESPN with a 2-1 win. After finishing at the bottom of the NHL standings just five years ago, the Avalanche hoisted the Stanley Cup for the first time since 2001. The Tampa Bay Lightning fell just two wins short of winning three straight Stanley Cups, something that has only been done five times in NHL history.
The Chicago Cubs topped the Cardinals in extra innings on Sunday afternoon. Wilson Contreras’ 10th inning single proved to be the only tally in needed in the extra inning. David Robertson picked up his second win on the year, while Zack Thompson was charged with the loss. Elsewhere, the Reds pounded the Giants 10-3 in San Francisco to take two out of three from the Giants. In Tampa, Pittsburgh fell to the Rays, 4-2, as McClanahan picked up the victory (8). In Chicago, the White Sox took the finale against Baltimore, 4-3.
The B1G/ACC challenge opponents were released late last week, and the Hoosiers will welcome in the preseason number 1 Tar Heels into Assembly Hall on Wednesday, Nov. 30. It will be the third time these two teams have met in the event in recent memory, all three games have been in Bloomington, and IU won the first two. This becomes the third major game on the Hoosiers’ schedule this winter, joining a road game at Kansas and a neutral site game with Arizona.
