Senior Night for the Barr Reeve Vikings golf team at Country Oaks and they picked up 3 more victories moving the season total to 89 wins. Barr Reeve fired a 170 followed by the Hatchets 177, North Knox 207 and Bloomfield 214. Sam Emmons medals in the match with a 37 followed closely by Brayten Yoder with a 40 and Simon Parsons of Washington also tied for overall second with a 40. Vikings next action will be at the Yorktown invitational in Muncie on Friday
The Barr Reeve Baseball team cruised to an 11-1 win over Eastern Greene last night.
At the 1A Softball sectional last night at North Daviess, Loogootee advanced to the championship with a 10-0 win over the Cougars, while Barr Reeve won the second game over Shoals 15-0. The championship will feature Barr Reeve against Loogootee tonight at 6:30pm on the General 95.9 / 101.3fm.
In Washington at the 3A Softball sectional, Princeton beat Vincennes Lincoln 6-2 to move on. Tonight at the Sports Complex, Washington will play Pike Central at 6pm on Memories 107.9fm, while Princeton faces Gibson Southern in game two.
At South Knox, the host Spartans advanced with a 2-1 win over Eastern Greene. Tonight, Linton plays Southridge, while South Knox will face Sullivan at South Knox.
Girls tennis regionals tonight at Jasper, Washington will face Loogootee in a tough match at 5:30pm, while Jasper plays Bloomfield in the other semi-final. The championship is tomorrow night at Jasper with the two winners.
Good Luck to Barr-Reeve Viking Senior Abby Ballengee in Track & Field Pole Vault Regional Today at Evansville Central. Top 3 make it to the State Finals on June 3 @ IU. Mady and Mary Borders will also compete in pole vault for North Daviess. Elle Knepp will run in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles and high jump for the Vikings, and Barr Reeve has a team in the 400 relay. Xavery Weisman and Quinlin Teague will run for Pike Central in the 1600 and 3200 run. Erika Vinnedge will throw shot put for the Chargers. Once again the girls track and field regionals are tonight at Evansville Central.
The Indianapolis Colts signed free agent quarterback Nick Foles as a backup for new signal caller Matt Ryan. The Super Bowl 52 MVP reunites with coach Frank Reich, who was Foles’ offensive coordinator with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2017. That year, Foles replaced the injured Carson Wentz late in the season and led Philly to its first Super Bowl title. The 33-year-old Foles spent the last two seasons with the Chicago Bears, and was released earlier this month. His deal with the Colts is for two years.
Preparations for the 106th running of the Indianapolis 500 continued Monday with a two-hour practice session at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou (Puh-LOW) led the session with a lap of 229.441 miles per hour in his NTT Data sponsored Honda. The defending NTT IndyCar Series champion will start Sunday’s race in the middle of the front row next to his teammate, pole-sitter Scott Dixon, who was second-fastest Monday. The 25-year-old Spaniard finished last year’s race second in a thrilling duel with Helio Castroneves. Dalton Kellett crashed hard into the turn one SAFER barrier during the practice session, the first major contact in preparation for the Indy 500. The A.J. Foyt Racing driver Tweeted that he is “all good,” and will be back in the car for Friday’s Carb Day final practice.
Paul Goldschmidt hit a walkoff grand slam in the bottom of the 10th inning, and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-3 at Busch Stadium. Goldschmidt has 22 RBIs over his past 12 games, and has a 15-game hitting streak. Former University of Cincinnati star Ian Happ homered and drove in four, and the Chicago Cubs defeated the Reds 7-4 in Cincinnati.
