fatal-crash

It was a sad weekend for the Washington community.
On Friday, Knox County Crews responded to an accident with injuries involving five area teenagers. The single vehicle accident was reported around 5:00 pm on US 50 near Robinson Road. At least two of the 5 occupants were thrown from the vehicle. Among the occupants were a 15-year-old female and a 17-year-old male.
Both were transported by ambulance to Daviess Community Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The other three were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in critical condition where they were stabilized and later transferred to surrounding hospitals by helicopter.
Those transferred by helicopter include the 17-year-old male driver, a 17-year-old male passenger, and a 14-year-old female passenger. Two of the teenagers are still in recovery, however, the third succumbed to his injuries early Saturday morning. He has been identified as 17-year-old Davidson St. Victor.
St. Victor was a student at Washington High School and an all star athlete. Washington High School Principal, Steve Peterson released a statement over the weekend explaining that counseling will be available to students at school this week. All students were also asked to wear red this morning to show the strength of diversity and the impact that one smile can have on our community.
In addition, a fundraiser has been set up for the family which has already generated over $12,000.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and for those still recovering.
