Washington Volleyball won against Tell City in 4 sets at the Hatchet House Saturday 25-16,25-15,22-25,25-14.  The Hatchets then went on to win in a barn burner against North Posey in 5 sets. This was a very intense game from start to finish! 25-19,19-25,25-21,23-25,15-10.  Washington is now 19-5 overall and 9-3 in the PAC!  

The Barr-Reeve Vikings improved their record to 23-2 with at 25-11, 25-16 and 25-20 victory over Terre Haute South on Saturday Morning.  This was a varsity only contest.  Next up the Vikings will hosts Northeast Dubois tomorrow night. 

At the North Daviess Volleyball tournament on Saturday, North Daviess claimed the tournament championship by defeating Lighthouse Christian, Wood Memorial, and White River Valley.  The lone loss on the day came at the hands of Owen Valley.

Volleyball Sectional Pairings: 

At Sullivan, Washington will open play against Princeton.  Pike Central plays Sullivan, and Vincennes Lincoln has the bye awaiting the Washington/ Princeton winner. 

At Eastern Greene, Forest Park plays North Knox, Eastern Greene will face South Knox, and Barr Reeve will open against Southridge.  Linton-Stockton will play the winner of Forest Park/North Knox. 

 At Loogootee, North Daviess will face Vincennes Rivet, Lighthouse Christian plays Shoals, and Loogootee will await the winner of North Daviess / Vincennes Rivet.   

 The girls Volleyball sectionals begin October 13th.   

 

The Washington Hatchets finished 8th in the PAC conference boys Cross Country meet on Saturday at Prides Creek.  Heritage Hills won the boys race.  Colin Englehart led the Hatchets with a 24th place finish.  The Hatchet girls had two runners compete with Audrey Wright leading the way with a 23rd place finish.  Gibson Southern claimed the girls conference title.

Washington lost at Heritage Hills 38-8 

North Daviess fell to North Decatur 42-0 

North Knox beat Linton 27-14 

Vincennes Lincoln over Evansville North 21-13 

Jasper lost at Castle 14-10

The IHSAA Boys Soccer Sectionals get underway tonight.  At Gibson Southern, Washington will open against Princeton.  Kick off is set for 6pm with live coverage starting at 5:45pm on Memories 107.9fm and www.wamwamfm.com.

Game two will have Pike Central facing Southridge. 

At South Knox, Washington Catholic will play South Knox, while game two will have North Knox against Lighthouse Christian.   

The Indianapolis Colts are 3-1 for the first time since 2013 after beating the Chicago Bears at a chilly Soldier Field on Sunday 19-11. Philip Rivers continues to impress in his first season with the Blue and White after a 16-for-29 day through the air for 190 yards and a passing touchdown to Mo Alie-Cox. Defensively, Indianapolis barreled the Chicago rushing game with just 28 yards allowed on the ground. In his first start with the Bears, Nick Foles went 26-for-42 for 249 yards with a passing touchdown and interception. With the defense having another week of giving up up 11 points or less, which they have now done for three consecutive Sunday’s, they will look ahead to a Week 5 match-up at Cleveland. The Browns will enter next week coming off a 49 point performance in a win at Dallas. 

For the third time this year, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway wrapped up a successful race weekend featuring the NTT IndyCar Series. The IndyCar Harvest Grand Prix doubleheader hit the IMS road course with ten-thousand fans in the stands on both days of the event. With 25 participants for both races, it was Josef Newgarden taking the checkered flag on Friday, and 2018 Indy 500 winner Will Power winning on Saturday.  The final race of the year is at St. Petersburg on October 25. 

After the wild card round took place at ballparks all throughout the country, the MLB will institute their own playoff bubble as the American League division series will get started on Monday night. The ALDS features teams playing their own division rivals in the Houston Astros versus the Oakland Athletics, and the New York Yankees against the Tampa Bay Rays. The Houston and Oakland series will be played at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, while the New York and Tampa matchup will be at Petco Park in San Diego.
