Washington Junior High Football teams split a pair of games with Heritage Hills at Hatchet Hollow last night.  The 7th graders topped the Patriots 14 to 6 for the win, while the 8th graders had some key injuries and fell 34 to 0.
The Washington  Hatchet Tennis team secured at least a share of their first PAC conference title edging out Southridge last night 3 to 2.  Washington’s conference record is now 11 and 0 with one match left against Heritage Hills tomorrow for the outright title.
The Barr-Reeve tennis team beat Evansville Christian Thursday night at home 5-0 taking their record to 16-1 with one match left on their season.  It will be a make up with Wood Memorial.

North Daviess tennis sweeps Gibson Southern 5-0. The Cougars host the Swiac conference tourney beginning at 4:30 pm today.
Loogootee Tennis team won their 20th straight match shutting out Paoli 5-0.

-Barr-Reeve- 16-1 (lost to Loogootee) (4th in district rankings)
-Washington- 18-2 (lost to Loogootee/BR) (7th in district rankings)
-North Daviess- 14-3 (lost to Loogootee/BR/WHS) (8th in district rankings)
65-6 (all six losses coming to each other).  These four area teams make up 4 of the 8 district ranking spots which includes all of the Evansville schools
The Washington Boys and Girls Soccer teams picked up a pair of conference wins at home last night.  The boys team edged out Princeton 2-1 to improve to 7 and 7 on the season.  In game two, the Lady Hatchets cruised to a 5-0 Win.  Both teams will be back at home tomorrow.  The boys will host Heritage Hills.  Live coverage starts at 10:45am on Memories 107.9fm.  The girls will then play Pike Central in a make up game.
The Hatchet Volleyball team grabbed a straight set win on the road last night defeating Forest Park.  They are now 17-5 on the year.

The St. Louis Cardinals won 4-2 over the Milwaukee Brewers to kick off a crucial NL Central series Thursday night at Busch Stadium. The win gave St. Louis a two-game cushion over Milwaukee and a narrow half game lead over idle Cincinnati for second in the division.
The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Chicago Cubs 7-0 Thursday afternoon for their third win in a row. The Cubs have scored just 10 runs in their last seven games and have dropped five out of six. Their magic number to clinch the NL Central remains at two heading into the final series of the season, which is a three-game set against the crosstown rival White Sox.
The Chicago White Sox bullpen collapsed late, and the Cleveland Indians handed the Sox their fifth straight loss with a 5-4 decision at Progressive Field.
Purdue All-American wide receiver Rondale Moore announced he is opting back into the college football season and will rejoin the Boilers. Moore announced August 6th he would sit out the season and begin preparing for the 2021 NFL Draft. After a standout freshman season in 2018, the New Albany native played in only four games due to a hamstring injury last year. Purdue’s season is scheduled to begin October 24th at home against Iowa.
The Indianapolis Colts host the New York Jets Sunday afternoon at Lucas Oil Stadium. Up to 7,500 fans will be allowed in after the Marion County Health Department approved the increase from 2,500 for last week’s win over the Minnesota Vikings. The Colts are 1-1, while the Jets are 0-2.
