The Barr-Reeve tennis team won at Tecumseh 3-2 on Tuesday night taking their record to 15-1 on the season.
Tuesday at the Lena Dunn Sports courts The Washington Hatchets faced Forest Park another PAC opponent and beat them 4-1. The Hatchets have two matches left in the conference undefeated at this point (9-0). The team has 17 wins and 2 losses on the season. They will travel to Southridge on Thursday and end the regular season at home against Heritage Hills which will determine the Pocket Athletic Conference champion. The area tennis in and around Daviess county is at a high level with four teams in the top eight in the district.
North Daviess finished off a match that was continued from September 1st in a 2 all tie, as the Cougars Markus Britton dusted off Ross Mehringer from NE Dubois to lead North Daviess to a 3 to 2 win over the Jeeps.  North Daviess plays at Gibson Southern tomorrow.
Michael Enriquez scored the  hat trick for the Jasper boys soccer team with 3 goals as Jasper shut out Washington 4-0 at Jasper yesterday.  The Hatchets will face Heritage Hills at home on Saturday.  In the girls game held earlier, Washington battled hard but a free kick by Jasper in the final 8 seconds of the first half led Jasper past the Hatchets  2-1.  The Hatchet goal came on a free kick from Jessica Hart
The Washington Volleyball team dropped a tough battle against a good Loogootee team 21-25,19-25,19-25.  The Hatchets look to bounce back tomorrow against Forest Park. Washington is now 15-5.  The JV dropped their match in two sets 14-25,15-25
Notre Dame’s upcoming game with Wake Forest has been postponed and all football activities have come to a halt due to an outbreak of COVID-19 among the Fighting Irish. The school announced Tuesday that seven players tested positive Monday out of 94 tests. A total of 13 players are in isolation with 10 in quarantine. The Fighting Irish were scheduled to take on the Demon Deacons Saturday in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Both teams have October 3rd off, but it is too early to tell if Notre Dame will be able to play that day.
The Milwaukee Brewers scored two runs in the seventh inning and went on to defeat the Cincinnati Reds 3-2 Tuesday night at Great American Ballpark. The result put both teams back into a tie for third in the NL Central and kept both teams a game back of the Cardinals for second.
The St. Louis Cardinals beat the Kansas City Royals 5-0 Wednesday night at Kauffman Stadium. The win over their in-state rivals kept NL Central foes Milwaukee and Cincinnati at bay as the Cardinals held their one game advantage for second place in the division.
Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Kevin Stallings connected on a walk-off home run to lift the Pirates to a 3-2 win over the Chicago Cubs Tuesday night at PNC Park. The Cubs will have to wait longer to clinch the NL Central title, but despite the loss, the Cubs clinched a playoff spot due to the Phillies losing to the Nationals.
