WHS boys tennis team defeated Vincennes Lincoln 4-1
The Washington Girls Soccer team picked up a win at home last night shutting out Boonville 3-0. The Washington boys soccer team travels to Boonville tonight.  While the Lady Hatchets are on the road Saturday at Forrest Park.
Washington Volleyball is in action tonight as they take on Heritage Hills at the Hatchet House.  Catch live coverage of girls Volleyball beginning around 7:30pm on Memories 107.9fm tonight.
The Big Ten conference announced it will play football this fall. The conference presidents re-voted unanimously to allow their schools to play after originally postponing the season until spring. Indiana, Purdue and the other 12 Big Ten teams will play a nine-game, nine-week schedule starting the weekend of October 23rd and 24th. A turning point for the league came when schools were able to acquire cheap, rapid testing for COVID-19, and players will be tested daily. Fans will not be allowed at games with the exception of family members.
The NCAA Division 1 council announced the college basketball season will start November 25th. The season was originally scheduled to start November 10th. The start was moved back since more than three quarters of Division 1 schools will have wrapped up the fall semester or moved online for the remainder of the term by the new start of the season. Teams will be able to play a maximum of 27 games down from 31. Schools can officially start practice October 14th.
The NTT IndyCar Series announced the Music City Grand Prix in downtown Nashville for next season. The 2.17 mile, 11-turn street course will traverse the area around Nissan Stadium, the home of the NFL’s Tennessee Titans, and will cross the Cumberland River on the Korean Veterans Memorial Bridge. The event will be held August 6th through August 8th, 2021 and the race has a three-year contract with IndyCar.
The Cincinnati Reds have won a season-high five in a row after beating the Pittsburgh Pirates 1-0 Wednesday night at Great American Ballpark.
Javier Baez hit a walk-off single to lift the Cubs to a 3-2 10-inning win over the Cleveland Indians Wednesday night at Wrigley Field.
The Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals split a doubleheader Wednesday at Miller Park. The Cardinals won game one 4-2 behind a complete game seven inning performance from Adam Wainwright. Cardinals left fielder Tyler O’Neill drove in two runs, including a solo home run in the second. In game two, the Brewers jumped out to a 4-0 first inning lead thanks to a three-run homer from Ryan Braun and did not look back, winning 6-0.
