Carl Junior ‘Scoop’ Boyd, 79, of Odon, Indiana, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 11, 2020 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. He was born on December 3, 1940 in Daviess County, Indiana to Carl G. and Geneva (Simmons) Boyd. Carl married his loving wife of 61 years, Starlee (Gainey) Boyd on May 16, 1959.
Carl was a member of the Cornettsville Methodist Church, North Daviess School Board, Glendale Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, Future Farmers of America and 4-H Clubs. He worked as a rural mail carrier and operated Boyd Farm Market for many years.
Family left to cherish the memory of Carl include: his wife, Starlee Boyd; son, Gordon (Sun) Boyd, daughter, Debra (Larry) Conolty, daughter, Lisa (Keith) Martin, daughter, Becky (Steve Shout) Turpin and twin sons, Brad (Mandy) Boyd and Brent (Brandi) Boyd; thirteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one brother, Roger Boyd.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 18, 2020 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with Ashley Shurtz officiating. Carl will be laid to rest in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 17 and from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. The Glendale Masonic Lodge will hold a memorial service on Thursday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
