Volunteers Recognized

          Linda Cornelius was named Retired Senior Volunteer Program’s Daviess County Volunteer of the year yesterday.
          The announcement came at the 44th annual RSVP Recognition Celebration. Meanwhile, Martha Greene was named Volunteer of the Year for Martin County.
          The program hit a milestone this year as for the first time ever volunteer time exceeded 100,000 hours.  101,542 hours to be exact.  The monetary value of that amount of service adds up to over $2 million.       
          The RSVP program has a mission to engage men and women 55 and over in meaningful volunteer service strengthening the well beign of self and the community.  Efforts include volunteering in hospitals, nursing homes, for services for low income families, working with non profits, food pantries and much much more.
